I love this song! It is off the last album that Johnny recorded, A Hundred Highways. It says what I have been feeling better than I could have.
“couldn’t manage the problems I laid on myself. And it just made it worse when I laid them on somebody else. So I finally surrendered it all brought down in despair. I cried out for help and I felt a warm comforter there. And I came to believe in a power much higher than I. I came to believe that I needed help to get by. In childlike faith I gave in and gave him a try. And I came to believe in a power much higher than I. Nothing worked out when I handled it all on my own. And each time I failed it made me feel twice as alone. Then I cried, “Lord there must be a sure and easier way. For it just cannot be that a man should lose hope every day.”
The only movie in a theater that my parents allowed me to see was “The Gospel Road” by Johnny Cash. How is that for faith formation?
That is sad and awesome wrapped in a 16 inch tortilla!
Great ost! I love Johnny Cash. Check out my post “Cash Got Grace” and let me know what you think. Here is the link:

as i struggle with faith, i still question if i am Christian, or something else, the one thing i can say about a man like johnny is, i would love to meet his god, and i think faith such as his is something i want.
Johnny’s God is indeed the loving, grace filled God of Abraham and the God that we all seek to understand and encounter. Godspeed brother!
