Happy Baptism-versery to me!

32 years ago I and my twin brother, Grant were baptized in San Fernando, California at the First Presbyterian Church of San Fernando.

I found this out while I was seeking to become a candidate for minister with the Presbytery of San Fernando. Where I am currently under care. I just want to pause and reflect on what my baptism means to me. [pause]

I am smiling now and full of joy. I am thankful that my parents exercised this rite when I was a child. It was their faith and that of the community that bears witness in my life today. Before any conversion story or radical shit that brought me to me knees. It was the obligation felt by my parents to offer myself and my brother to God in service.

Thanks be to God.

p.s. Since that day I have been baptized two more times. But I am only counting the first one.

I love this. I am so excited that your parents baptized you as a child. I am also laughing that you were baptized two more times. It’s so confusing, isn’t it? On our faith journey we run into so many meanings of baptism. Well, at least you recognize and honor this one!
