What I remember from 1980.

I was in my fifth year in 1980, living in Richland, Washington at the time.

I remember nights of Happy Days. My father remarked once that an F-16 was so fast that we could watch Happy Days in New York City and fly back to Richland in time to watch it again!

Fridays at Big Al’s Pizza with mugs of beer for all (root for the little ones and Bud for my pop). I loved going here with my pop and brothers. I felt like a big guy hanging out with my pop.

I remember an Evil Knievel daredevil motorcycle jump set. I could never get it to work like it did on the commercials. Freaking jerks and rip offs!

I was at church listening to a man play bagpipes at church when Mount St. Helens erupted. We had to wear masks to go outside to play.

I remember my Star Wars sheets Grant and I had on our bunk beds. I slept on the top bunk and Grant on the bottom. We also had a football toy chest in the room which we often hid in.

I remember Grant and I had a toy tractor and fire truck. I am not sure who had what. We would dig in the garden with the tractor and our two dogs, Sam and Saddie. This is the same garden in which I fell off the fence and was impaled on a piece of rebar. I still have the scar on my upper thigh.

I remember that I jumped off of a high wall at Paul Revere Elementary School and sprang my ankle.

I remember that Grant and I went to a birthday party at the stinky kids house and we got him a gift that we had wanted. We opened the gift and played with it. I am not sure if we ever went inside to the party.

I remember making popcorn on a sheet and making strings to decorate the classroom for Christmas. We also made green eggs and ham when we read the book.

I remember that Grant and I switched class at that school.

I remember that it snowed and we got to walk to school and back in it.

I remember TV shows That’s Incredible!, The Dukes of Hazzard, B.J. and the Bear, Buck Rogers , Battle Star Galactica, The Incredible Hulk, and CHiPs. I also loved Recuse 51. The cartoons Superfriends, Mighty Mouse/Heckle and Jeckle, Fred and Barney meet the Schmoo, and Dynomutt.

hey, it was golden bear pizza, it was bought by pizza hut. i loved the trips to A7W, i was amazed at the ladies being able to carry all of the food, while roller skating. we went to Lewis & Clark elementary you fell off the huge statue of the famous pair, we also went to animal crackers for kindergarten, the neighbor hood was mostly Mormon, so we had only a few kids the parents would let us pagans play with(only because pop told them to fuck off and he wasn’t interested in their soulless religion). we had a shit load of star wars toys, but only because ma & pop felt guilty of them getting divorced. and i got scared by the twilight zone talking Tina story, and pop and all us us slept in the living room.
